Mack Bolan cover 3 by JustinRandall Mack Bolan cover 3 by JustinRandall
I got picked up by IDW publishing to do 3 of 5 covers for a new 5 part mini series comic based on famous fictional action dude - Mack Bolan.
Never heard of him? Well neither had I but there have been over 600 novels written about this guy (yep, 600) and now he's getting some new glory through IDW with some awesome interior art to go with it. Check this interview link for some samps...

So there ya go. No horror, no monsters...just a gun toting dude. Stay tuned for 2 more covers by the end of this month.

Very cool! I have read all of the Executioner books as well as the various spin-offs, and men's adventure novels. I am glad that a comic book series is finally coming out on Mack Bolan. It's about time! You do know that he was the inspiration for Marvel's Punisher?

That is amazing! I read a couple Bolan books before and they sucked...but I might pick this comic up because that is an amazingly well drawn cover.

I hope those WEREN'T the one written by Don Pendleton. The very best Mack Bolan books were written by the master of true men's action adventure,Don Pendleton.

I certainly recomend Don's original "War Against The Mafia" series, from the very first #1 "War Against The Mafia" though #38 "Satan's Sabbath".

After 1980,Don Pendleton sold the rights to Mack Bolan to Gold Eagle due to health problems, old age and need to write other materials like Copp For Hire and Ashton Ford, and to this day his surviving wife Linda oversees her deceased husband's character creations like Mack Bolan.

Yep,Marvel did rip off and loosely copy Mack Bolan:The Executioner for Frank Castle:The Punisher, but Don was not angry or bothered by this, and immitation was a form of flattery to him back then.

Sadly,Hollyweird has NOT yet made a Mack Bolan:The Executioner film yet,but there is certainly 38 Don Pendleton written "War Against The Mafia" series novels plus 300 plus Gold Eagle "War Against Terrorism" series written Mack Bolan books available for use for good men's action adventure film screenplays for a Mack Bolan movie.

And how many books has Ian Fleming wrote before he died? James Bond 007 films are popular. Why not Mack Bolan?

As a long time fan of the Mack Bolan series, I say you've done a pretty dang good job here. There have been efforts in the past to do a comic series based on the Executioner, to barely marginal success. Mainly because of his simlarities to Marvel's Punisher (though Mack came first, in 1968).

Anyways, this looks pretty good. And if nothing else, your covers kick ass. :D

Monsters? Sure! Mack has KILLED 2000 plus Mafia hitmen and assassins, rapists, pimps, drug dealers, rapists, turkey making torturering sadists and highly evil Global Godfathers/Mafia Dons during his 1969 to 1979 era "War Against The Mafia" created and written by action writer Don Pendleton, then Mack had EXTERMINATED 10,000 plus Terrorists,KGB and Drug Lords during his continueing war in the current series from Gold Eagle Books-licenced with permission by Don and Linda Pendleton back in 1985.

Nope! Mack DOESN'T go about shooting at random innocencent people, but rest assured,Mack Bolan does hunt down, kill and personally EXECUTES many evil assholes.
